What is the
Secret Session?

The Secret Session is a true 3-day celebration of everything Irish – live music, DJ's, artisan food, drink, dance, and rugby! This festival is totally indoors so you don’t need to worry about the weather as you enjoy dance an Irish jig, or watch the rugby on our big screen! Treat yourself to an Irish Secret Session with 3,000 of your new friends inside RDS Main Hall!

Also includes: barbershop, gaming zone with huge Jenga & Connect-Four, relaxing spaces to soak up the atmosphere on colourful bean bags and our funky pallet furniture

The RDS is serviced by Dublin Bus routes 4, 7, 18

  • On Nassau Street, South Frederick’s Street stop 405
  • Take bus 4 towards Monkstown Avenue
  • After 9 stops go out on Merrion Road, RDS, stop 416

Train

DART
Dublin DART service also operates from the City Centre to Ballsbridge.
The closest DART station to the RDS is Sandymount.
(approx. 5 minute walk) 

FROM THE SANDYMOUNT DART STATION:

  • Follow the Exit signs and turn right onto Sandymount Avenue
  • Continue until you reach the traffic lights (Bewley’s Hotel and the Four Seasons Hotel will be directly in front of you)
  • Turn right onto Merrion Road and the Festival is situated on the left-hand side (Merrion Road)
     

Car

Limited parking will be available at the venue in the Simmonscourt area of the RDS.

From City Centre
Follow the R118 (also known as Mount Street which becomes Merrion Road) for approximately 2km. For Simmonscourt car park continue along the Merrion Road and turn right into Simmonscourt Road. The RDS Simmonscourt Complex is situated on the left-hand side after the two office buildings.
 

Accessibility

Parking areas for mobility impaired persons will be accessible from the Merrion Road, gate B1. Display of mobility impaired parking sticker in a visible position is necessary.

All venues at the RDS are accessible to people of all abilities. Viewing platforms will be located within each of the three main music halls for the sole use of mobility impaired persons and the those accompanying them. Accessible toilets are available throughout the venue.

Guide dogs are permitted


 

Leaving the event

 

By foot

TO CITY CENTRE

  • Head northwest on Merrion Rd/R118 toward Anglesea Rd/R815
  • Continue to follow R118 for 2.2 km
  • Then turn slight left onto Leinster St S/R138
  • Continue to follow R138 for 450 m
  • Then turn slight right toward College St for 230 m
  • Go slight right onto College St
     

Taxi

There will be a dedicated Taxi Rank outside the Venue after the event.
Please use directional signage.

 

Nitelink

Dublin Bus will operate normal night link services from the area.

ROUTE 46N

Pick up at Donnybrook church for travelling towards Dundrum.

This service operates on Friday and Saturday at 00:30hrs and 01:00hrs.

ROUTE 7N

Pick up at Ballsbridge (opposite American Embassy) for travelling towards Shankill.

This service operates on Friday and Saturday at 00:00hrs and 01:00hrs.


Personal safety

A First Aid Area will be situated at the event.

Note that alcohol should be consumed in moderation.

 

Lost Property

Lost property will be held in the Event Control Office.

For the information of lost propriety on site please go to the member of security for assistance.

Promoter is not responsible for any lost or stolen objects.

 

Mobility Impaired Facilities

All venues at the RDS are accessible to people with the wheel chair. Viewing platforms will be located within each of the three main music halls for the sole use of mobility impaired persons and the those accompanying them. The area will be easily accessible.

Wheelchair toilets are available throughout the venue.

Guide dogs are permitted.


 

Ticket FAQs

 

Event access 

  • Entrance will be only allowed to persons of age 18 or over.
  • Note that admission is strictly by full ticket only.
  • Please have your ticket available for inspection at the main entrance to the venue.
  • Tickets must be retained for duration of event as proof of entry.
  • 3 Day ticket holders will receive a wristband at the entrances to the festival. The band is to be worn on the wrist. Unsealed or damaged wristbands will no longer be valid. Wristbands allow you to move freely across festival premises, and cannot be removed, cut, pulled off or damaged n any way – damaged wristbands are invalid. Wristbands and tickets should be kept on during the entire festival in order to enter the festival premises freely.
  • Tickets/ Wristbands are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • Proof of age may be required for all ticket types. Please ensure that you have ID with you in case you are asked.
  • No re- admission.
  • Searches in operation on the entry to the event.

 

What do I need to enter the festival?

  • Your ticket, your ID.
  • Daily tickets are available online or at the door.
  • Three-day tickets are also available. 
  • Unsealed or damaged wristbands will no longer be valid.
  • Security searches and bag checks in operation at entry.

 

Festival tokens

  • You MUST buy festival tokens from the RDS
  • No cash is accepted onsite for purchase of food, drink and merchandise.
  • You can buy festival tokens with Debit/Credit card or cash.
  • Festival tokens are worth €3 each, all food, drink, merchandise is sold in €3 increments.
  • Tokens are non-refundable.

Is there WiFi access?

Yes, there will be public Wifi available to use.

Can I take photos or do audio/video recording?

Photography for personal use is generally permitted – only compact cameras, basic SLR cameras and mobile phones with camera functions are permitted at the event.

Professional equipment needs prior permission. In general, recording of any kind is prohibited without the explicit permission of the event organiser or an artist. The publication of such recordings will be subject to prosecution.

 

Am I allowed to bring drinks or food?

No.

 

 

 

Can I bring my
pet with me?

No.

 

 

Can I bring my children with me?

Yes, on Friday and Saturday children are permitted onsite until 6pm.

 


 

Are there any age limits?

All persons must be of age of 18 or above.

 


 

Will there be medical care on site?

Yes. Paramedics location will be signposted.
